A unit is written this way:

Where:

• separator is either " . " or " / "
• exponent is either " ² ", " ³ " or " ^ " followed by a number
• prefix is as defined below (case sensitive)
• unit is as defined below (case sensitive)

Prefix

A prefix can be added to any defined unit. For example:

• mm → millimeter
• kpsi → kilopound per squared inch
• Mkg → megakilogram
• µµ → micromicron
• yLy → yoctolight-year
• aN/km/Gin → attonewton per kilometer per gigainch
